This law banning social media will be presented in Parliament this year. It will take 12 months i.e. 1 year for the law to be implemented. This new law is going to be very strict, in which nothing like parental consent will be included. PM Anthony said that his government is taking an important step to stop access to social media. This rule is not going to affect parents and youth.

Australia's Communications Minister Michelle Rowland said this would include Meta's platforms – Instagram and Facebook. Currently, no social media platform has issued any statement on this decision of the Australian government.
Last year, France banned social media for children under 15 years of age. However, there is freedom to use social media platforms after parental consent. Apart from this, social media has been banned for children below 13 years of age in America for a long time. Most of the platforms including Meta have kept the age limit for using social media at 13 years only.
