Former Rockstar technical director Obbe Vermeij recently took to Twitter to reveal
Various hidden details of Grand Theft Auto.
“Games have bugs and GTA is no exception,” he says in a postwhich recommends players download the huge fan-compiled file, Silent open source patch before playing GTA 3, Vice City or San Andreas on PC. For his part, Vermeij tells a GTA player wants to be able to fix San Andreas' bug “with the forward map causing random things to change when the player leaves the map” before the 2004 action-adventure game's release.
This mistake “is probably the worst one we've overlooked,” he says. But he is also happy. admit that “erm… quite a few” other bugs fixed by Silent Patch may have been their fault.
The rest of their informal Q&A session reveals more GTA secrets and regrets. Is it fair that the 2021 definitive edition of the GTA trilogy has completely replaced the early 2000s originals in stores? “I haven't really tried them,” says Vermeij. admits. “I've heard that most of the bugs are already fixed. Yes, they were rushed.”
Can anyone really patch a game, like modder Silent does with Silent Patch? Yes, “patches allowed” Vermeij explains. “There's nothing a publisher can do about it.”
And why are so many GTA model names so rude and indecorous? Like the #cuntgun rifle weapon identification and #slamvan vehicle variation? “Anything that is not visible to the players tends to contain swear words,” says Vermeij. “It's something developers do to stay sane.” I can't believe we had the #cuntgun before GTA 6.
Desperate GTA 6 fans are giving up predicting the release date of the elusive action-adventure game's second trailer through normal means and instead turning to astrology..
