It's been seven months since the release of Stardew Valley's massive 1.6 update and developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone is still introducing new features and fixes to the beloved farming life simulator; and that continues with today's update 1.6.9, released alongside 1.6 for consoles, which, among other things, adds a new friend for retrieving lost items.
More specifically, once Stardew Valley update 1.6.9 is installed, players who have unlocked and then lost a unique item will find a special store that now materializes in the secret forest at midnight. Items that cannot be reobtained any other way will be available to purchase here for 10,000g and Barone notes that anyone can purchase items lost in multiplayer.
Elsewhere, players can now place legendary fish in fish ponds, although with a limit of one per pond. These will produce legendary fish eggs with fish that will have a unique water color. There are also new Easter eggs, dialogue adjustments, JojoMart work portraits for Sam and Shane, and the ability to place beds and sleep in any built building (as long as it allows furniture). Additionally, items dropped into water now float, meaning there is little time to retrieve them.
This is in addition to balance changes and quality of life updates, including improved auto-recovery of saves and tweaks that will resend most achievements, recipes, and important mail if players manage to miss them. Stardew Valley update 1.6.9 is now available for PC and the full patch notes can be found on the Barone website. Additionally, all 1.6.9 features are included in the game's mayonnaise-guzzling 1.6 update, which arrives today on consoles and mobile devices.
