Warframe 1999 will be released in December.
While developer Digital Extremes' latest livestream stopped short of confirming a precise release date, at least we now know which of the two remaining months in 2024 will debut the highly anticipated Warframe update.
“Our biggest update of the 20th century arrives in December when Warframe: 1999 launches on all platforms!” the studio said, before inviting players to “prepare your account” for launch day… whenever that may be.
For anyone struggling to wait that long, don't forget that a playable demo is still available.
“Get a taste of Arthur's weaponry and the turbocharged Atomcycle as you battle Scaldra through the streets of Hellvania,” DE teases. “December just can't come soon enough…”
As our resident Warframe expert Matt recently summarized for us, we knew 1999 was probably going to be a “strange” ever since its tease at last year's TennoCon.
As TennoCon 2024 revealed earlier this year, it's actually set in 1999 (New Year's Eve, to be exact) and no, this isn't the Earth we know, but it's close enough, full of extremely familiar artifacts appropriate for the time they feel. cheerfully incongruous within the broader world of Warframe. And that starts with the new central area of 1999: an abandoned 1990s shopping center filled with artificial palm trees, arcade machines, and screens spewing cheesy infomercials.
