Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea have joined hands for seamless connectivity in areas affected by Cyclone Dana. All three private telecom companies have opened intra-circle roaming service, due to which users will be able to make calls using the network of any telecom operator. This cyclonic storm is going to affect the coastal areas of West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh as well as the North-East states including Bihar, Jharkhand and Telangana. Winds blowing at speeds ranging from 100 kilometers per hour to 120 kilometers per hour and heavy rains are being predicted.
Jio made preparations
Reliance Jio has enabled ICR i.e. Intra-Circle Roaming service for cyclone affected areas. For this, Jio has joined hands with Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited. During emergency, Jio users will be able to avail the facility of calling using the signal of any telecom operator. Apart from this, Jio has installed backup power in these areas, so that the mobile network continues to work smoothly.
Airtel backup plan
Airtel has also created a 24×7 war room for seamless connectivity in storm-affected areas, with additional backup systems in place for the network. To ensure that users continue to get mobile connectivity during emergencies, Airtel has also enabled ICR i.e. Intra-Circle Roaming. Airtel users will also be able to stay connected to their family members in case of emergency by using the network of any other telecom operator.
Vi also shook hands
Like Airtel and Jio, Vi (Vodafone Idea) has also started ICR i.e. Intra-Circle Roaming facility in cyclone affected areas. Also, a 24×7 war room has been prepared, which will provide additional power backup and network connectivity in the affected area. Along with the three private telecom companies, BSNL has also made complete preparations to deal with the emergency.
