Beirut/Jerusalem/Paris For the first time, the Israeli army has killed many Lebanese soldiers in Beirut because of France. Till now, Hezbollah was fighting directly with the Israeli army. The Lebanese army is not even involved in this war. But due to some controversial activities of France, the Israeli army has killed many Lebanese soldiers. Due to this, the situation and direction of the war may take a new turn. After this attack by Israel, its tension with France is certain to increase.
Let us tell you that Three Lebanese soldiers were killed in an Israeli military strike in southern Lebanon on Thursday. France hosted a conference in support of the Lebanese State Forces, which is seen as crucial to any diplomatic solution to the war between Israel and Hezbollah. Lebanon said the Lebanese soldiers were killed when they were evacuating wounded people on the outskirts of the southern village of Yeter. They were killed at around 4:15 a.m., a security source said. There was no immediate comment on this attack from the Israeli army. Israel had earlier said not to take any action against the Lebanese army.
The area is part of a border area that Israel attacked during a month-long offensive against the heavily armed, Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah during the Gaza war.
With more than 2,500 people killed in Lebanon and more than 1 million forced from their homes, according to Lebanese officials, the Paris conference aims to mobilize both humanitarian aid and support for the Lebanese army.
America also supports Lebanese army
What does France say?
French President Emmanuel Macron said, “A ceasefire is needed in Lebanon.” He said the conference would support the recruitment of 6,000 Lebanese soldiers and provide vital supplies to the army. “Because more damage, more victims, more attacks will lead to an end to terrorism.” “This will not be possible. This will not ensure safety for everyone.” Lebanon's acting Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Beirut could deploy 8,000 troops under the ceasefire plan, but appealed for international financial aid and training. “The storm we are currently witnessing is different from any other storm, because it carries the seeds of complete destruction not only for our country, but for all human values,” Mikati said.
What is America's stand?
According to the Pentagon, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told his Israeli counterpart on Wednesday that Washington is concerned about attacks against the Lebanese Armed Forces. He also urged Israel to take steps to ensure the security of the Lebanese army and the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. Israel launched an invasion of Lebanon with the stated aim of ensuring the return home of thousands of Israelis who had evacuated their homes in northern Israel following a year of cross-border rocket attacks by Hezbollah. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was on a regional tour to press for an end to the fighting in both Gaza and Lebanon. Therefore he did not attend the Paris meeting. (Reuters)
