The government has made more than 120 crore mobile users of the country happy. The government has implemented the International Spoofed Calls Prevention System for the users of Airtel, BSNL, Jio and Vi. Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has given this information along with launching the new logo of BSNL. Within just 24 hours of the launch of this system, telecom service operators have identified fake or spoofed calls out of more than 1.35 crore international calls and have worked to block them.
Break on international fake calls
This system, developed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and telecom operators, will block fake international calls coming to the users at the network level. Recently, several incidents of cyber criminals making international spoofed or fake calls to users using Indian mobile numbers (+91-XXXXXXXXXX) have come to light. These calls appear to be coming from India, but hackers are making such calls from abroad. All this was being done by hackers by manipulating the calling line identity (CLI).
The new system is useful
Due to the implementation of the new system by the government, users will get rid of international spoofed incoming calls on their phones and there can be a huge reduction in the incidents of cyber fraud. On the other hand, TRAI has implemented new rules from October 1 to ban fake calls and messages. In such a situation, unverified marketing calls coming on the phone will be blocked.
The Department of Telecommunications is continuously blocking such fake mobile numbers through which attempts are being made to fraud the users. According to recent reports, the Department of Telecommunications has blocked more than 1 crore SIM cards within a few months. Additionally, IMEI numbers of hundreds of mobile devices have also been blocked.
