Chennai . Tamil Nadu School Education Department will take 32 primary school teachers and 22 high school and higher secondary school teachers on a trip to France for a week. The selected teachers will leave for this trip on Tuesday and will return on October 28.
The School Education Department said that the teachers have been selected under the Kanavu Asiriyar (Dream Teacher) scheme of the state government.
The Kanavu Asiriyar program identifies dedicated teachers who have the potential to transform society.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) had organized 'Kanavu Asiriyar Competition 2023' for government and aided school teachers to hone their skills and develop their understanding of their subject. During this, the subject related academic knowledge and skills of the teachers were evaluated.
Tested through multiple choice tests, district level assessments and other examinations.
These exams also covered other subjects including educational strategy, subject knowledge and classroom management.
The School Education Department said in a statement that 16,247 teachers working in government and governmentaided schools had applied to take the exam under the scheme.
10,305 teachers who applied took the preliminary exam and 2,008 passed the next level exam.
Out of this, 992 teachers were selected and finally only 54 teachers were selected.
