Cairo: After the death of Yahya Sinwar in southern Gaza, the Israeli Army has sent another army unit to assist in the Jabaliya operation. It is the eighth largest refugee camp in Gaza. Jabaliya residents in northern Gaza said Israeli tanks had advanced through suburbs and residential districts into the heart of the camp, unleashing massive air and ground fire.
People said that the Israeli army is destroying dozens of houses every day by bombing buildings sometimes from the air and sometimes from the ground and detonating them from a distance. While the Israeli army said its forces, which have been operating in Jabaliya for the past two weeks, carried out airstrikes in close combat on Thursday, killing dozens of militants and destroying Hamas military infrastructure.
Operation intensified after Sinwar's murder
The Israeli army's Jabaliya operation gained momentum after it announced that the country's number one enemy and Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar had been killed by the IDF. According to the IDF, Sinwar himself ordered the attack on October 7, 2023, which was the deadliest in the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Israeli military says its operation in Jabaliya is aimed at preventing Hamas fighters from regrouping for more attacks.
