Chhattisgarh There is good news for the government employees of the state. The state government has announced dearness allowance before Diwali. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai on Wednesday announced a four percent increase in the dearness allowance (DA) of state government employees. With this, dearness allowance in the state will now be 50 percent of the basic salary. Sai told reporters here today that Diwali festival is near and in such a situation his government has decided to increase DA by four percent. With this it will become equal to the central government.
3.90 lakh employees will benefit
Senior state officials said that this decision will benefit about 3.90 lakh employees of the state government. This increase will be effective from October 1 this year. Earlier in the beginning of March, the Sai government had increased DA by four percent, making it 46 percent of the basic salary.
Announcement possible soon for central employees also
Before Diwali, employees working in the Central Government can also get the gift of increase in dearness allowance. If reports are to be believed from sources, the Union Cabinet may increase the dearness allowance of employees by 3%. If this happens then the dearness allowance given to the employees will increase to 53%.
