Pokémon Go is having a Sewaddle Community Day event in Saturday, October 5, from 2 to 5 pm in your local time.
As expected with a Community Day event, Sewaddle will appear in large numbers with a high chance of appearing shiny. There are also several other bonuses and perks, which we list below.
How do I catch a shiny Sewaddle?
According to old research by the now-defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback Machine), Shiny's rates on Community Days are about 1 in 24, meaning that if you keep playing during the three-year period hours, you should find plenty. Shiny Pokémon.

If you're short on time or Poké Balls, you can pop an incense and then quickly tap each Sewaddle to look for the shiny ones and run away from the non-shiny ones. In particular, any Sewaddle you've already touched will be oriented towards where your player is standing, so it should help identify which ones you've already marked.
What Community Day move does Sewaddle's evolution learn?
If you evolve Swadloon into Leavanny from 2 pm to 10 pm in your local time, it will learn fast movement. Shadow Claw.
If you can't evolve it during this period, you'll probably be able to evolve it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Shadow Claw. If you don't want to wait, you can use Elite TM to perform the move.
How is Leavanny doing in the meta?
Leavanny is a “just okay” bug-type attacker for PvE content, but even with its best moveset (Bug Bite and (as expected).
Leavanny isn't much use in PvP either. While the addition of Shadow Claw to his moveset is new, it doesn't improve his ranking much or do anything groundbreaking.
How do I get the most out of Sewaddle Community Day?
The following bonuses will be active during Sewaddle Community Day:
- 1⁄4 hatch distance for eggs placed in incubators during the event
- Duplicate candies for catching Pokémon
- Doubled the chance for level 31+ trainers to get XL Candy when capturing Pokémon.
- The incense lasts three hours.
- Decoy modules last three hours.
- Sewaddle special photobombs when taking snapshots.
- An additional special exchange
- Stardust's cost to market is halved
That said, you should definitely put your eggs in incubators, pop an incense, and try to get a powerful Sewaddle.
If you can Mega Evolve into Venusaur, Beedrill, Pinsir, Scizor, Heracross, Sceptile, or Abomasnow, you'll get additional Sewaddle Candy per catch. Using Primal Reversion on Kyogre or Groudon will also work.
On top of all this, Niantic still runs special four-star raids from 5 to 10 pm, where if you complete the Swadloon raid, Sewaddle will appear in a 300 meter radius around the gym for 30 minutes. These raids cannot be carried out remotely. If the usual spawn boost from 2 to 5 pm doesn't give you the Sewaddle you want, you can try attacking for another chance.
