silent hill 2 Remake studio Bloober Team has talked about walking a tightrope between honoring an iconic game with a faithful remake and bringing something new to the table, specifically when it comes to puzzles.
In a new post from Bloober Team's official Twitter account, a video shows one of the game's many puzzles in action, with the caption reading: “In #SILENTHILL2, we've strived to recreate the game's iconic puzzles, by “At the same time, we incorporate some new ideas and add new challenges that relate to the game's story.”
Bloober Team also confirmed that the remake will have three different difficulty options for all of the game's puzzles, which is a feature carried over from the original.
In #SILENTHILL2, we've strived to recreate the game's iconic puzzles, while also infusing some of them with new ideas and adding new challenges that tie into the game's story. There has been immense pressure on Bloober Team to deliver a satisfying remake of one of the most iconic horror games of all time. Most of the horror community's disquiet comes from Bloober Team not being the game's original developer, nor does it necessarily have any games that fans can point to as proof of its ability to do justice to the Silent Hill name. That's not to say it doesn't have solid games (I personally really enjoyed The Medium), it's just that it's in the unenviable position of being compared to Silent Hill 2 of all games.
All that said, the hands-on previews from August were almost unanimously positive and really changed the tone and conversation around the remake considerably. The remake arrives on PS5 and PC on October 8.
With only a few days to wait until its launch, Spoilers are currently the scariest thing about Silent Hill 2 Remake, as first copies are passing their on-sale date and hours of gameplay are appearing online..
