Roopa Ganguly, who played the role of Draupadi in BR Chopra's Mahabharata, was arrested by Kolkata Police on Thursday. BJP leader and former MP Roopa Ganguly was protesting in Kolkata. Meanwhile, the police arrested Rupa and brought her to Alipore police station. Rupa was protesting in Bansdroni area of Kolkata since last day. Here on Wednesday morning a student died after being crushed by a JCB. Regarding which Rupa was protesting. Meanwhile, on Thursday, Kolkata Police arrested Roopa for obstructing government work and sent her to Alipore Police Station.
Actually, this whole matter is related to the death of a student on Wednesday morning. Here, road repair work was going on with JCB in Bansdroni area of Kolkata. Meanwhile, a student resident of ward number 113 of Bansdroni area passed by here and got hit by a JCB. Here, the student suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a JCB and became unconscious. After this the student was immediately taken to the hospital. Where the doctors declared him dead. After this entire incident, tension increased on the spot and people started shouting slogans. People insisted on calling the local TMC councilor to the spot.
Regarding this entire matter, BJP workers also reached the spot and started protesting. Rupa was also protesting peacefully here, during which the police arrested her. After her arrest, Rupa said, 'I was not harassing anyone, nor was I obstructing anyone's work. I was peacefully demanding justice for the boy who was murdered. Now the politics of Kolkata has also started heating up regarding this matter.
Roopa Ganguly is currently a BJP leader and has also been an MP. Roopa Ganguly played the character of Draupadi in the TV serial Mahabharata which aired in the 90s. This character gave Rupa recognition across the country. After this serial, worked on many projects and then joined politics. Now Rupa Ganguly is counted among the big leaders of BJP in Bengal.
