David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will play Clark Kent and Lois Lane. The rest of the cast includes Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Nathan Fillion (a Green Lantern), and many more.
Deadline reported Friday that another name was added to that list: Alan Tudyk of rogue one, Firefly, Resident alien fame, in a “secret role.” But what role is it?
Tudyk has deep experience in the DC Universe, sometimes on screen and sometimes as a voice actor. He has appeared in DC animated television shows (harley quinn, Batman: the brave and the bold, Young JusticeGunn's next Creature commands), DC animated films (Justice League: War), live-action DC shows (Doom Patrol), and now, a live-action DC movie.
So far in the DC Universe, Tudyk has played [deep breath] The Joker, Clayface, Calendar Man, Condiment King, Doctor Trap, Firefly, Ocean Master, The Flash, Green Arrow, Psimon, Captain Cold, Superman, Mr. Nobody and (soon) Doctor Phosphorus in Creature commands. It has to be some kind of record. But who does he play? Superman? Here are our top guesses.
Reprising the role of Doctor Phosphorus in live-action certainly seems like a possibility. Gunn has said, “We'll take the characters into animation, out of animation, and they'll usually be voiced by the same actor who plays them in live action.” But that makes the secretive nature of this casting a little strange: him reprising the role seems like the kind of thing DC Studios might announce.
Consider: Martian Manhunter, a potential CG-heavy role for a talented voice actor with ties to whatever's happening in space in this costume reveal image. There are many heroes flying around Gunn. Superman universe, and J'onn J'onzz could be one of them.
It certainly looks like Brainiac is in Gunn's film, and as of now, that role has yet to be announced. But that's the kind of main villain role that can be put aside for an even bigger name. Yeah Superman'However, if Brainiac captures the move, that could boost Tudyk's stock in that particular case.
There are dozens of more unconventional choices in the Superman canon that Tudyk could pull off, such as the mischievous trickster Mister Mxyzptlk (a character I just can't believe the actor he hasn't done it played yet).
I would love for him to recapture his charming performance as Mr. Nobody from the first season of Doom Patrolhowever unlikely it may seem. I won't get my hopes up.

Here's what Tudyk has to say about the casting report:
What I mean is that I think Alan Tudyk could play almost any DCU character and he would be happy. But now talk: who is your most likely choice and who would you most like to see play?
