New Delhi: Any top football team faces the challenge of staying motivated despite success. Mumbai City FC is also facing this challenge these days.
The team has started its campaign in the Indian Super League (ISL) Cup with a draw and a defeat in its opening two matches.
However, forward Vikram Pratap Singh has said that the team is more determined to win the trophy than last time.
“We are more excited and motivated than last time. When you play for a club like Mumbai City FC, you know you have to win. For us, a draw is the same as a defeat and everyone plays with that mindset,” Singh told .
Vikram joined Mumbai City FC in October 2020 but had his breakout season in the 202324 season under head coach Petr.
The 22yearold forward played 20 games in the season, scoring seven goals and registering eight assists. He then scored in the 91st minute in the first leg of the semifinal against FC Goa, which his side won 32.
Despite being in the spotlight, she said she doesn't feel any pressure because of her performance.
He said, “I think pressure doesn't matter much, I always try to perform better than last season. It doesn't matter to me what is going on outside. My only target is to score more goals than last season.”
The forward praised his coach for allowing the players to play their natural game.
“One of my favourite things about him (coach) is that he doesn't limit us. He allows us to express ourselves on the field,” Singh said.
Vikram made his debut for India in January 2024 and has played four matches so far. Now he is eyeing to score his first goal for the team.
