Washington: A big statement has come from former US President Donald Trump. Republican Donald Trump said that if he loses the November 5 election, he will not contest for the US presidency for the fourth consecutive time, “this is what will happen”. Trump was asked if he does not succeed for the third time in a row, will he again join the race for the White House after four years. On this, the 78-year-old former president said, “No, I will not contest. But I have absolutely no hope that this will happen. I am confident that we will succeed.”
Let us tell you that Trump is facing a tough competition against Democratic candidate and US Vice President Kamala Harris. Surveys show a close contest between the two leaders which is likely to be decisive in determining the winner. Even Harris has started gaining lead in nationwide polls. Trump launched his first re-election bid for the 2020 election on the same day he was inaugurated in 2017 and announced his latest White House bid two years ago in November 2022.
Trump is surrounded by lawsuits
Democratic President Joe Biden has continued to accuse Trump of attempting to overturn the election results after his defeat in 2020. He faces federal and state criminal charges over this. Trump, however, has denied any wrongdoing and dismissed the allegations against him as a political attack against him in case he loses in 2024. He has also launched several business ventures during his latest campaign, including Trump Media (DJT.O), opens new tab, NFTs and Trump-branded sneakers, coins and crypto.
Harris is the attacker
After President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, Vice President Kamala Harris is in the fray against Trump and she is constantly attacking him. 59-year-old Harris has described this race as an important moment for American democracy. However, she said that she wants to focus on issues like families and housing costs.
