Wilmington: The first national security semiconductor fabrication plant will be set up in India in collaboration with the US. It will produce chips for use in military hardware as well as critical telecom networks and electronics in both countries. This ambitious India-US joint project has now been announced after talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden in Wilmington on Saturday.

According to a joint fact sheet on Modi-Biden talks, both the leaders have praised the first India-US semiconductor manufacturing partnership as a “watershed arrangement”. After this deal, PM Modi today assured to make India a major producer of semiconductor chips in Nassau, New York. He said that in the coming few years, chips made in India will be seen in America.
