Adil Rashid has become the first English spinner to take 200 ODI wickets

Leeds. Adil Rashid has etched his name in the record books by becoming the third English bowler and the first spinner to take 200 wickets in the 50over format during the ongoing One Day International series against Australia.

Rashid is already England's leading spinner in the format, with Moeen Ali (111) and Graeme Swann (104) the only other spinners to take more than 100 men's ODI wickets. Sophie Ecclestone also has 100 ODI wickets for the women's team.

Rashid achieved the feat by dismissing Glenn Maxwell (7) in his sixth over in the second EnglandAustralia ODI at Headingley. Maxwell tried to hit the legspinner out of the ground but was caught straight at deep midwicket.

Adil Rashid made his ODI debut in August 2009 for the fivematch series against Ireland, but he had to wait for almost six years before reappearing in the format. Following his return, Rashid became a regular whiteball player, and formed a potent spin partnership for England in ODIs with Moeen Ali.

Along with his incredible ODI stats, the 36yearold also has strong stats in the other two formats. He has 122 wickets in T20Is and has taken 60 wickets in 19 Tests for England so far.
