High Court judge expressed regret over 'Pakistan' comment, know what he said – Top News Bulletin


Karnataka High Court judge Justice V Sreesanand has expressed regret over his recent statements. He said that this happened inadvertently. It was not meant to hurt the sentiments of any person or section of the society. He gave this clarification in the court in the presence of members of the Bangalore Advocates Association.

What was the controversial statement?

Justice Srishanand also said that if anyone has been hurt by his comment, then he regrets it from the bottom of his heart. In fact, Justice Srishanand had made a controversial comment after discussing road safety on 28 August. He had described an area of ​​Bengaluru as Pakistan. At the same time, the second comment was made for a female lawyer. Both the comments were heavily criticized on social media.

Bengaluru Advocates Association president Vivek Subba Reddy said that the judge clarified his comment on the woman lawyer that the comment was about the client's knowledge and not right for the lawyer. He said that there is no doubt that he is a good judge, but he should not make such statements which are not necessary for the case. On this, Judge Srishanand said that he will not make any such comment in future.

It is noteworthy that on September 20, the Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance of the video clip containing controversial remarks of Justice Srishanand. A 5-judge bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, Suryakant and Hrishikesh Roy passed an order seeking a report from the Karnataka High Court. The next hearing of the case will be on September 25.
