Afghanistan created history, defeated South Africa and took an unassailable lead in the ODI series

Sharjah: Riding on the spin of spinner Rashid Khan and a century by opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Afghanistan created history by taking an unassailable 20 lead in the threematch ODI series against South Africa.

Friday, September 20 was the birthday of Afghanistan's legendary spinner Rashid Khan. On this special occasion, he led the team to a huge victory of 177 runs. This is Afghanistan's biggest victory in terms of runs in ODIs, surpassing its previous best victory of 154 runs against Zimbabwe.

Talking about the match, Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Afghanistan scored a challenging score of 3114 in 50 overs thanks to a quick century from opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, halfcenturies from Rahmat Shah (50) and Azmatullah Umarzai (86 not out).

In response, the South African team chasing it was bowled out for just 134 runs in 34.2 overs. Captain Temba Bavuma shared a strong opening partnership of 73 runs with Tony De Georgi. But after the captain was out, wickets started falling in quick succession. The situation was such that South Africa lost all its 10 wickets in scoring 61 runs. Rashid Khan bowled lethally and took five wickets for just 19 runs.

With this, Afghanistan has taken an unassailable 20 lead in the threematch ODI series. The last match of the series will be played on Sunday (September 22).
