Hansal Mehta's The Buckingham Murders completed its first week by earning Rs 7.53 crore in India. The Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer has been a slow earner since the beginning and earned Rs 23 lakh on its first Thursday. The film is now expected to gross Rs 10 crore by the end of its second weekend at the domestic box office.
Released across India in English language, The Buckingham Murders attracted a niche audience despite receiving good reviews and positive word of mouth. The film is Kareena's first production and features her in a completely deglam avatar as she plays a police officer solving serial murders in the UK.

Buckingham Murders also faced tough competition from Stree 2, which has entered its sixth weekend but continues to do well at the box office. The horrorcomedy has already crossed the Rs 500 crore benchmark in India and has become the highestgrossing film in Hindi cinema. Recently, Stree 2 has managed to surpass Shah Rukh Khan's Jawaan and has moved to the top of the list. Now Shah Rukh Khan's Jawaan is at number two.
A new challenge for Kareena's crime thriller is Yudhra, an action film starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan, which has been released in theaters today i.e. 20 September. The film has received a lot of success and good response in the shows it has released so far. The appreciation it is getting from the audience makes it clear that the journey ahead of The Buckingham Murders will be quite difficult. The film also stars Ranveer Brar, Ruku Nahar and Ash Tandon. It is coproduced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms.
